A Great Update
There are seasons of life which speak to us in strong ways, encouraging us to see ourselves in light of how the Lord has chosen to reveal Himself. The fragrance of life is upon us like the changes of wind in the belly of my wife, speaking to us as if the hope we find growing in her is more than what it is. And amidst the course we find ourselves in, within the caverns and bowels of a ship having its sails blown according to the sovereignty of the only Good Father we know, we hear whispers of good things to come. My family is growing, and though at first we feared death upon us in the reality of my perpetual liver problems, we have nothing to truly fear with the good providence of God.
Trending down, my liver functions are getting better by the day. What at first we feared the possibility of death, now only the vague idea of it remains, not the truth of it. The vanquished curse lay ahold of us, but the strong arm of God in Christ has beckoned us to look anew upon heaven, keeping our eyes fixed upon the only One who can, and we say “yes” to Him. We say “Yes” to life, “Yes” to the possibility of a lengthened fatherhood in me, and “yes” to a happiness we can only truly hope to attain through Christ’s meritorious blood.
What I’m saying is that I am getting healthy. My latest blood results showed that I am near perfection in my liver, but not quite there. I am fully confident, though the source of the original high blood levels in November and December have not been found out, we have not, because of the faith given us, been found wanting. God in His mighty hand has protected my family yet again, and we can sing His praises anew; not only with the sudden health of my liver, but with the arrival within weeks of a healthy baby boy.
So let me just say, to you faithful warriors in prayer, that God hears us according to His will and His good purpose, and has chosen this day to say afresh that there is nothing to fear. Proverbs 4.1-5, “Hear O Sons, a father’s instruction, and be attentive, that you may gain insight, for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching. When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother, he taught me and said to me, ‘Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.”
The Lord sovereignly has revealed to us His perfect will in His word, and has chosen to reveal Himself exactly as He pleases. He is a good God, and can be found out. We will continue to seek the Lord in His perfect Word, and wait upon Him for this next season to reveal Himself to our hearts, so that in His perfect timing, we might receive the fresh wind that we always desperately need.
Thank you all for your wonderful prayers. God is always good, whether I have a good report to share or a seemingly bad one. Let us always look to Him in His word!
Was just praying for you and your family yesterday. Soo glad to hear the good news! I will continue to pray that your good health remains and that you and your wife can focus on celebrating the life God is creating within her!
